By the way, I contacted Crucial and did everything we could (up/downgrade firmware, run garbage collection for at least 24 hours, used some special low level formatting software). Since I don't have to write to my sample library disk, and OSX can't write to NTFS, It's OK I can only read from it.

When I formatted the SSD as OSX extended (Journaled) the drive is extremely slow. The SSD was originally in my old PC Windows 7 system. OSX and Cubase run on the SSD originally installed in the mac, and the Crucial holds all my VSL and other Kontakt libraries. And yes, you can change the boot drive later in System Preferences in the Startup Disk prefpane.Anybody here with a similar setup experiencing these problems? I installed a Crucial M4 in the optical drive using a HD Caddy.

You can also hook up the drive externally via USB-SATA and clone or install that way from a currently running OS X system. If you see a box popping up allowing you to choose a wireless network, it's possible. It can take 5 to 10 seconds on machines with mechanical drives. As long as you have done the firmware update at any given point in the past via an OS X system (not 100%В sure with the 2010-2011 machines, anything 2012 and newer can do it out of the box), doing an internet 'recovery' OS XВ installation should be no issue. Having to install Windows via the CD/DVD player is because of some odd restrictions Bootcamp had built in for machines with an optical drive.

How do I burn the ISO on a DVD? Or should I just get a sata to USB cable and just install the OS X to skip all this trouble?
